Ashraf Khaled Helmy is a scientist and research leader with over three decades of pioneering experience at the intersection of computer systems engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and space sciences. Since 2016, he has held the rank of full Professor of Computers and Systems. He currently serves as the Head of the Data Reception, Analysis, and Receiving Station Affairs Division at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) in Cairo, Egypt, where his career began in 1993.

In his executive role at NARSS, Parallel to his institutional leadership, he is a dedicated educator, teaching advanced computer architectures and intelligent systems as an invited professor at several premier Egyptian universities.

As a prolific researcher, Dr. Helmy has published extensively in top-tier international journals. His core portfolios sit at the absolute cutting edge of software engineering, featuring breakthrough contributions in AI-driven remote sensing, computer vision agents, super-resolution imaging, automated change detection, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) analysis.
