The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) and the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) have solidified their collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering cooperation in peaceful space endeavours. The signing took place at the headquarters of the Saudi Space Agency in Riyadh, with SSA’s CEO, Dr Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi and EgSA’s CEO, Dr Sherif Sedky, formalising the agreement.

According to the information released by SSA, this MoU serves as a comprehensive framework to strengthen joint efforts in space-related activities while emphasising the peaceful utilisation of space. It outlines mutual areas of interest and facilitates the seamless exchange of critical information and advanced technologies between the two agencies. Beyond this, the agreement aims to catalyse collaborative research and development initiatives in allied fields. Such concerted efforts are anticipated to propel further breakthroughs and significantly expand the spectrum of cooperation between both agencies, particularly in space exploration and the advancement of related technologies.

For the Saudi Space Agency, this landmark agreement marks a pivotal stride in its commitment to fostering international partnerships. By prioritising the localisation of technologies and industries in alignment with the agency’s overarching objectives, SSA aims to spearhead the development of the space sector and its associated technologies. This strategic move underscores SSA’s dedication to nurturing global collaborations that will benefit the agency and contribute tangibly to the broader technological landscape.

This milestone MoU represents the continuation of a longstanding partnership between Saudi Arabia and Egypt across diverse sectors. Its significance lies in bolstering both countries’ economic and technical roles within the space sector. By leveraging this strengthened collaboration, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are poised to carve out prominent positions on both regional and global fronts in space exploration and technology innovation.
